MOVEMENT AND WRITING MIXER

Body-Space-Line-Word

A creative and collaborative movement workshop incorporating mark-making and writing, with Sam Lawrence of Dance Centred. What happens when we weave together movement, writing and mark making as a creative process and allow one to feed and respond to the other? We will work together with movement, mark making and words to find our flow, explore the interplay between the different artforms and co-create something unique and exciting.

Sam Lawrence  Sam is Co-Director of Dance Centred CIC and co-runs Kowsel, a spoken word initiative. Having worked extensively as a freelance dance-artist delivering participatory and performance work in a variety of settings over many years – Sam is motivated by collaborative possibilities - both co-creative processes with a community, as well as other artists/organisations.  With her initial training in Visual Arts, later training in Contemporary Dance, this multi-disciplinary and rich background informs her work as both facilitator, maker, and performer.

Dance Centred CIC was established in 2019. Together with Co-Director Lois Taylor and a team of freelance practitioners Dance Centred brings people together, sharing a love of dance and inspiring the imagination through classes, performance, choreography and training, aiming to create joyful and creative partnerships and collaborations. Since 2022 Dance Centred has been running the Move Together project in Newquay – a programme of weekly creative dance sessions for women affected by cancer.
