The Huer's Hut, King Edward Crescent, Newquay, TR7 1EN

The details...

IT'S YOUR SHOUT! Groundswell and SproutSpoken invite you to a very special gathering of community, creativity and connection at one of Newquay's favourite places: The Huer's Hut. For the fourth year running, our popular It's Your Shout! event will coincide with National Poetry Day as we raise our voices with the rest of the UK. Come and join people from the Newquay community, honouring this iconic landmark with songs, poetry and spoken word that conjure up the spirit of the Huer at this special place.

What do you want to shout about?

IT'S YOUR SHOUT is your opportunity to tell the world... at the top of the cliff, at the top of your voice! Get involved by bringing your crafted words, your vocal chords... and maybe an instrument! You can sign up for a slot below to do this... or book to come along and watch! With many thanks to Newquay Town Council and the Hut 'custodian' Jon Goodman, for enabling this annual event to take place.

EVENT DETAILS:

Date: Thursday 3rd October 2024

Time: 6.30pm

Booking to attend: £free or £contribute-what-you-want

Age guidance: 14+ (evening likely to contain mature themes)

Before planning to come along to the event, please note...

  • The ground around the Hut is not always level in places, so you will need to take care, wear sensible footwear and potentially bring someone to assist you if you're not confident on your feet.

  • There are no seats, however there are some places where you can lean against railings. You are welcome to bring something to perch on (eg. waterproof cushion, blanket or folding chair/walking stick).

  • The location is also exposed and the event will continue despite the weather, so please dress ready!

  • There are no toilets on site.

  • There is no parking on site but Dane Road Car Park is a few minutes walk away. Please be mindful of cars on King Edward Crescent when accessing the Hut.
